Etelä-Korea investoi 64 GUSD älykkäisiin moottoriteihin

South Korea announced 29.08.2016 an ambitious plan to build in the next three years a network of smart expressways, adapted to electric vehicles and self-driving cars, to limit traffic congestions and polluting emissions. The government will invest $33.1 billion and plans to raise another $31.3 billion through private sector investment to finance the plan until 2020, the South Korean transport ministry said in a statement.

The new network that will add to other measures by the South Korean government, including tax cuts, to encourage the use of electric vehicles, will come equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles at key junctions. Intelligent transportation systems, or ITS, will also be installed to ensure safety of autonomous vehicles and prevent accidents through a virtual structure of traffic monitoring. The government also plans to incorporate a smart toll system that will not require the installation of booths nor stop or slow down vehicles. The project also includes the construction of an additional 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) of expressways that will extend the country's total road network to 5,131 kilometers (3188 miles). According to plan, 96 percent of the country's 50 million inhabitants will be able to access these expressways in less than 30 minutes. The expressways will make 78.2 percent of South Korea's total area accessible, up from the present 70 percent, according to the ministry.  [enr]

Chile: Aurinkosähköä 0.026 EUR/kWh

The Spanish developer Solarpack Corp. Tecnologica won contracts to sell power from a 120 MW solar plant for 29.10 USD/MWh at an energy auction this week. That’s the lowest price on record for electricity from sunshine, surpassing a deal in Dubai in May. It’s the cheapest to date for any kind of renewable energy, and was almost half the price of coal power sold in the same event.
The location for this particular power plant is also a factor, in northern Chile’s Atacama desert. It’s high in the Andes, close to the equator and is considered one of the sunniest and driest places on Earth. It’s ideal for solar energy.  [Blo]

Suomessakin pitäisi lopettaa tuulivoimatuet ja siirtyä kaikille avoimiin energiahuutokauppoihin. Ja, ettei unohdu, aurinkoenergian nettolaskutukseen.

USA: 17 % uusiutuvaa energiaa

According to data released on Aug. 24 by the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA), renewable energy in the U.S. through the first half of 2016, including hydro-electric power, biomass, geothermal, wind, and solar (including distributed solar), provided 16.9 percent of electricity generation. In all of 2015, that number was 13.7 percent. Non-hydro renewable energy was 9.2 percent of U.S. electric generation through the first half of 2016. For all of 2015 it was 7.6 percent. [ren]

Isoja merituulipuistoja Britanniaan

The British government gave the green light 16.008.2016 for what it called the world's biggest offshore wind farm to be built off the English coast. The Hornsea Project Two farm should have up to 300 turbines and a capacity of up to 1.8 gigawatts. It could produce enough energy to power 1.6 million homes.
 
It is an extension of the 1.2 GW Hornsea Project One which was in itself being trumpeted as the world's biggest offshore wind farm.
Both projects are being developed by Danish group DONG Energy, the world's largest operator of .

Suuruuskin on suhteellista: Kiinassa Gansu Wind Farm megaprojektissa oli jo 2010 rakennettu 3,500 tuulimyllyä yhteiskapasiteetiltaan 5.16 GW. Ja rakentaminen jatkuu niin, että 2020 pitäisi olla pystyssä useita kymmeniä tuulivoimapuistoja, joiden kapasiteetti olisi yhteensä 20.00 GW.

Eipä tullut Suomesta cleantechin suurvaltaa

Suomen ilmastopaneelin selvityksen mukaan Jyrki Kataisen hallituksen yltiöpäiset tavoitteet tehdä "Suomesta cleantech-toiminnan globaali suurvalta" ovat romahtaneet.
