Nyt presidentitkin alkaneet puhumaan mustasta hiilesta (black garbon). Hiili onkin mustaa (sic). Näyttää siltä, että tavanomaiset ilmaukset kuten noki (soot) eivät kelpaa. Musta hiili ei ollut mukana Kioton sopimuksessa, mutta se nousi viisi vuotta sitten isompaan keskusteluun seuraavasti:

Secretary of State Hillary RODHAM CLINTON 16 Feb 2012 announced the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) to reduce short-lived climate pollutants, a new global initiative to seize the opportunity of realizing concrete benefits on climate, health, food and energy resulting from reducing short-lived climate pollutants. The coalition will focus efforts on reducing black carbon (soot), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), and methane. The founding coalition partners are Bangladesh, Canada, Ghana, Mexico, Sweden, and the United States, together with the UN Environment Programme (UNEP).

139 maassa 100% uusiutuvaa 2050 mennessä?
By the year 2050, a total of 139 countries could get their energy only
from renewable sources such as water, wind and sun.
Researchers at the Stanford University say this would reduce energy
consumption, since renewables are more efficient than fossil fuels, but also
help create 24 million jobs, and reduce air pollution deaths by up to seven
million per year.
Researchers from the university also assert that the conversion to all
green energy will spare more than $20 trillion in health and climate costs

100% uusiutuvaa - irti sähköverkosta
Ameren Corporation and S&C Electric Company announced that they had
successfully conducted a 24-hour islanding test at the recently deployed Ameren
microgrid in Champaign, Illinois. The test focused specifically on the 50-kW microgrid at the site, which
powers an Ameren research facility. The complete microgrid includes 225 kW of
renewable generation (PV solar and wind) and 250 kW / 500 kWh of battery energy
storage.
The test began at 8 a.m. on Aug. 3, 2017, with the battery’s state of
charge at 97 percent capacity. Once the battery was depleted to 90 percent
capacity, solar and wind generation kicked in, simultaneously carrying the load
and charging the battery. This pattern continued throughout the day, never
letting the battery fall lower than 88 percent capacity. The microgrid
functioned without any human interaction, automatically coordinating resources
and ensuring power never faltered, according to the company.
“We have one of the few microgrids in
the world that operates at utility-scale voltages and can seamlessly transition
from grid-connected to islanded mode.” [rew]

Lomborg - Sceptical Environmentalist
Tänään oli Hesarissa Bjorn LOMBORGin kirjoitus otsikolla" Pariisin sopimus ei korjaa ilmasto-ongelmaa". Lomborg tuli tunnetuksi 2001 teoksellaan The Skeptical Environmentalist, joka aiheutti globaalin keskustelun ja tiedemaailman nokkamiesten tuomion. Lomborg tunnustaa maapallon man-made lämpenemisen, mutta hänen mielestään sovitut toimet ovat tehottomia ja tulevat kalliiksi.

St1 Anttonen kulkee omia teitään
Tämänpäiväisessä Hesarissa oli juttu suomalaisesta tee-se-itse miehestä Juha ANTTONEN, joka on parissakymmenessä vuodessa tehnyt miljardin euron tuloksen. Hän ei usko Pariisin ilmastosopimuksen onnistumiseen ja on erittäin kriittinen Suomen toimintaan uusiutuvien energialähteiden tukemisessa. Sinan the Architect
Muutama viikko sitten kirjoitin betonin historiasta Vitruvius vs Sinan http://energiatyhmyrit.real.fi/2017/06/betonin-historiasta-vitruvius-vs-sinan.html. Vitruviuksen kirjat arkkitehtuurista minulla ovat olleet jo pitkään. Mutta nyt sain hankittua teoksen Sinan's Autobiographies - Five Sixteenth-Century Texts. Tässä 640-sivuisessa kirjassa on 140 sivua pääasiassa englanninkielistä tekstiä, loput nykyturkkia ja Sinanin alkuperäisiä tekstejä arabialaisin kirjaimin.

Iso vesivoimalaitos Nigeriaan
Decades of planning are coming to fruition as construction of Nigeria's 3,050 MW Mambilla hydroelectric plant began earlier this week. The facility, to-be located on the Donga River in the eastern Taraba State, has stalled repeatedly since its conception in the early 1980s for a number of reasons -- most recently due to a landslide that blocked access routes to the project site in September. Nigeria's Minister of Power, Babatunde Fashola, said earlier this week that the government expects the plant to be complete in 2024.
At that time, Mambilla's cost was estimated at US$6 billion -- 70% of which was reported to be paid by Chinese firms and the remainder by the government of Nigeria. China's interest in the project results from a May 2007 decision to award contracts for Mambilla's development to the China Gezhouba Group Co. Ltd. and Sinohydro. [rew]

Germany’s
electricity from renewable sources accounted for 35% in the first half of 2017,
or an increase of 6% compared with the same period last year, according to the
BEE renewable energy association.
Germany is planning on eliminating its nuclear
power plants by 2022. Germany’s renewable energy has been on the rise for the
last two decades due to the Renewable Energy Act (EEG). Around 85 percent of
the power from renewable energy was obtained by the nation on certain sunny and
